There is obviously a maturity factor. When we first met and had fun, so to speak, he moved in 1 month later. He always expressed the strong conviction that he did not want to move back in with his dad. Well 7 months later - he has - due to the fact that his other brother left his father all alone. Shall I move on?

You should move on if you know/feel that he's not gonna come back to you. But you shouldn't hold a grudge against him for choosing his father over you (no offence). Maybe at that time, when he said he wasn't going to move in with his father, he meant it because he knew that his brother could take care of their father. But when his bro left, he might have been battling whether or not he should go back to his dad. But I guess that for him to do that, he and his dad must really have a strong connection. :)

if you want to "let go" of him mentally and emotionally, try telling yourself that his "dad" was an excuse. he probably left you because he doesn't like you anymore. maybe he found a different girl. he doesn't like you.

time to move on.
