My friend's dad used to give us an aspirin before we went out in the sun to prevent sunburns. He said it had to do with aspirin preventing platelets to stick together which I know is true, but I don't know what that would have to do with preventing a sunburn.

To my knowledge, aspirin can not prevent sunburn. The only sunburn preventions I know to be effective are sunblock, shade, and light colored clothing.

Aspirin For Sunburn

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and aspirin is bad for the stomach, it causes ulcers and bleeding. A burn is a burn if you take aspirin and stand to close to an open fire you would still get burnt. Ultra violet rays know no boundaries.

No - it lessens the potential SYMPTOMS of sunburn (ie the associated inflammation), but does NOTHING to prevent UV damage, bad burn, or long term cancer and aging risks.

Aspirin should also not be given to children, due to the risk of a condition called Reye's Syndrome.
