I'm straight, but I see these questions because I am browsing through the "all categories" section. Some of the questions seem to be beckoning to us straight peeps to answer (i.e. "straight guys what do you think of...")

I understand where you're going with this question. I think maybe it's more the anti-gay straights and the Christians that cause me to wonder WHY they are here in the first place. The Bible speaks of abstaining from all appearances of evil. Then WHY do they come here? There MUST be some sense of curiosity about the gay culture for these folks. Many of the Christians would use the excuse that they come here to "witness" to us. I don't buy that. I think many of them come here to badger and be hateful. Same for the anti-gay straights who have no religious basis. Either way....I understand where you're going with this question and I'm sorry you got some aggressive answers directed at you. :-)

Many gay folk seem to criticize the fact that they are not accepted by non-gays. Your question seems to indicate a bias against straight people getting involved in gay issues. You don't seem to understand that as we move into the sexually mature / tolerant 21st century one's sexual orientation is becoming less and less important. People scan the various categories and participate in a variety of topics. I have been to Mont Tremblant Quebec during a gay ski week. It seemed to me that everyone one gay or straight enjoyed an absolutely fantastic week of skiing, It also seem to me that everyone gay or straight mixed together at various apres ski parties and in the local clubs and bars. Although I have no way of knowing first hand what the gay people did in there own hotel units I would imagine they enjoyed the pleasures of gay sex just as I enjoyed the pleasures of straight sex in my hotel unit. My point is "gay" is not a culture. Gays are essentially no different than non gays in any way other than their sexual preference. It seems like your trying to make it a much bigger issue than it is. Perhaps you have other hang-ups??

Is there some sort of rule which states that we CAN'T answer questions in the gay and lesbian category? Because if there is, I didn't get the memo. In fact, I don't think any of us did.
I read and answer these questions because I truly believe I can help, and I offer support when I enounter serious asshattery. That's all there is to it. I think a better question would be "why are ignorant, bigoted morons answering questions in this section?"

I'm straight, but I'm constantly on the gay scene due to a few of my friends. It's just another opinion or insight on what people think or do. However, I do agree that the religious people who are against homosexuals shouldn't need to answer any questions in this section.

lavender, as i see it, i think many of the questions are aimed at straight folk with regard to their feelings about the gay comunity or attitudes. In this case it would be appropriate for straight people to answer.
Straight people venture into these sites, to gain a further insite into human life and its diversity. It is great to see straight and non bigoted people here to help break down many of the predjudices that exist.
I hope that may help in answering ur question

Atheists can still have an opinion on Christianity, and straight people can still have an opinion on gay culture or whatever your question is about. I don't see how someone who has been discriminated against based on their sexuality could possibly think it's okay to discriminate against others based on the same thing.
If they're being hateful, of course, just report them.

lost me on this one-you dont think a straight person might have an opinion on a gay or lesbian question-and you have no other opinions-narrowmindness seems to work both ways-think you might want to stop feeding the fire-keep the peace lots of love old hippie
