Is the Monopoly really good?

i like the game of Monopoly a lot- what i don't like is it takes too long to play it--my wife and son say i become ruthless and angry when i play the game, especially if no one will deal with me, so i can get a monopoly ! they think i get too carried away with the game, too competitive, and therefore do not want to play the game with me..They could be right--i do like to win at Monopoly !!

I think you were referring to "Monopoly" as a type of market with only one seller (not the game). This violates the competitive requirement that there be a large number of sellers and freedom of entry. Monopolistic competition, which violates the requirement that consumers perceive all sellers' products as interchangeable. Monopoly is often used to designate markets that are to some degree noncompetitive. In economics, the definition of pure monopoly is much more restrictive. Pure monopoly indicates a market where there is a single seller. The monopolistic firm may feel forced to advertise to make its brand name synonymous with the product. This raises the cost of entry. The market conditions which create the potential for monopoly are quite wide ranging. Other firms usually invent comparable, often improved competing products.

Love to play the game monopoly esp when I can get Boardwalk and Park Place but have won by having the most inexpensive and being able to fill with hotels. In Business Monopolies aren't allowed for it negates free enterprise.

Monopoly is okay, but it usually takes so long that eventually people will get bored and quit. I've never finished a game of Monopoly, actually. I prefer The Game of Life...it's so cute!

It depends there are lots of ways at looking at the word monopoly and how it is used. Monopoly the board game is a classic and i love it. Internet monopolies scam you of your money. So on and so forth. Ask questions with more specifics.

Yeah I like the game of Monopoly, but it takes a while for the game to get interesting.

In my opinion monopoly is very boring, but you may not think the same way I do. Other people I know think it's fun but I guess you would have to play it to actually find out whether or not YOU like it.

i think monopoly is fun and a nice family game...and a lot of people can play at the same time...it has been around for a long time...it helps people to get together for a nite of fun..it's interesting and a bit educational in that it deals with money
