It seems like there is news of someone getting shot or stabbed every night. What I find really distressing is the amount of children who are getting killed due to gun and knife crime, and the amount of kids carrying guns and knives what is going on don't their parents care what they are doing, if I found out my kids were carrying a knife I would come down on them like a ton of bricks. The parents need to be punished for what their kids are doing and maybe then they would take more notice of them

Yes there really has been an upsurge of knife and gun crime in the UK

No there is NO proven record of an increase in gun or knife crime. Its just like any other crime. There are one or 2 high profile cases and then it becomes newsworthy for a while to the tabloids and news media. That just makes it look like it's become a massive problem

A bit of both really. I live in Manchester and knife crime here has always been terrible so for us it hasnt got any worse but I suppose in other places it may have escalated rapidly, either way a knife amnesty isn't going to help, the people that stab other people arent going to be the ones handing in their knives are they?

Does seem to be a lot more knife crime going on at the moment. Maybe because there is a knife amnesty at the moment it is getting more media attention though.

no, the figures were mearly published due to the national knife amnesty. Its media spin to suggest an increase but it was actualy fairly average. I think the shock comes with the expectation that the amnesty would cause the figures to go down and they did not, but they did not increase either

no the knife crime has gone mad over here it is on the news nearly everynight.I hate living here it is no longer a nice place to live

What a stupid idea this amnesty was , who thought that up, are they all mental?? "Hand in your weapons"
If any one wants to dump a weapon, they will dump it, why take it to a police station?? the mind boggles!!
