because if you allow two consenting adults the ability to marry regargless of sex, and enjoy the same tax benefits as other couples then scociety will crumble... it says so in the bible, towards the back, look it up

Gay marriage would not be a threat to heterosexuals........they do not intersect at any point...it's not like one could take over the other, what kind of question is that?
Now if you asked whether gay marriage threatens society in general, or whether the gay population would grow simply because of legalizing gay marriages....now those are some good questions to throw out there.
I am not threatened by other's sexual orientation. But I can see how people would avoid answering the question you posted and instead answered with whether they think it is wrong or not.

No! I don't think my marring another man will threaten heterosexual marriages. As to giving a reason why? It's simple. How can you argue that it will. Aside from saying that it's wrong and the bible says so. Blah Blah Blah! That is not the issue now.
One might say that it's threatens the rate of procreation. I highly doubt that. You don't need to be married to have children. Look at all the pre-teens having kid's. They seem to be picking up the slack of procreating for us.
Since we can't procreate, we can adopt. That would help lower the rate of foster children in the U.S. Us marrying will as so save the government over a billion dollars.
If any one is really passionate about this issue I recommend a book the Arthur is a cool chick that i had a privilege to meet.

Gay marriage is no threat to anything. Noone elses marriage is a threat to anyone elses marriage. I'm not sure why there is even a question about this in society. Straight people have bad marriages every day. Divorces are too common. Why does anyone care what other people are up to. Why is it that it's OK for some knocked up teenager to get married too soon to an abusive trailer park stud? god forbid we let 2 men or 2 women who love each other enjoy themselves. Keep the gov't out of our homes.

Why would it be a threat to heterosexual marriages???? It has nothing to do with us,they are two people who want to make a commitment to each other in the eyes of God,just like everyone else and I feel they have a right to be able to do that!!!! I don't care if they marry or not,it is not affecting my life at all or anyone elses for that matter!!!!

No I don't feel it is a threat to heterosexual marriage, why should anyone tell some one Else who they can marry, I just don't get it, if you love some one and want to be married to them then why not allow those to people to join in a union that tells the world "we love each other and want to spend the rest of our lives together" just like heterosexuals do..people are Hippocrates, look at all the strait marriages that end in divorce...oh and by the way I am not homosexual, I am as strait as they come.

Good luck trying to get a rational answer from the right wing-nuts. I asked almost the same question about a week ago and got the same "the Bible says so" drivel.
1. Bible don't say so. The Hebrew Scriptures prohibit one specific male and male position. It is clear from the context that this prohibition only applies to Jews. The Hebrew Scriptures say nothing about female homosexuality.
While the Christian Scripture has a few passages about marriage being a life-long commitment, there is nothing that actually addresses homosexuality.
2. Since all states allow for divorce it appears that the consensus in the US is that the Christian Scriptures do not have to be followed.
3. While it is a good thing for a child to have loving parents, there is no requirement that persons getting married have children or even that they be capable of having children. And, of course there is no logic to the idea that if you allow persons who can't have children to get married that persons who can have children will somehow be adversely affected.

I don't see how gay mariage could be a threat to heterosexual marriage....marriage between same sex partners has existed for many many years without the sanction of the "state". I remember when I was a young girl there were several older women who had lived together for many years and, in retospect, I now suspect had long term relationships that were sexual. And marriage between opposite sex partners has existed for ever, why would that change because of gay marriages?

There's only one true judge, and that is God. There is a reason why he gave us free will. I can't see why gay marriage would be a threat at all to heterosexual marriage. I have my religious views on this subject, and I have my political views. God didn't give anyone the right to pass judgement. I can't stand it when people start opening their mouths about what the bible says is right or wrong. How about this one, "He who has not sinned may cast the first stone."

Gay Marriage is NOT a threat to Heterosexual marriage! How could it be? Gay people aren't going to be marrying heterosexuals if they aren't allowed to marry each other. My sister is Gay. I think it would be great if she could marry her girlfriend!!! I'm not gay. She doesn't show any interest in if I have a boyfriend or not. My brother is not gay. She has NEVER hit on my sister-in-law. Thus no threat!

NO I do not.. I cannot for the life of me see how it could possibly be! Every time this issue comes up I get so mad, I say let them marry!
They allowed to foster and adopt children, and bear children, but not get married?
I could care less if it is right or wrong either..But they should have the same rights as heterosexual's to marriage and what goes with it.
Even heterosexual marriage has become a big joke, look how many get divorced.. Over 50%!!! It is NOT a politcal issue, it is a religious one, period, and why is church and state ok to mix when it suits them?!
