I wouldn't take the risk of going over there without accommodation. When we were there, we ended up letting two fellas bunk in with us because they couldn't find anywhere to stay, and another friend went over without booking somewhere and it was two days before they got a place. It all depends how busy the place is at the particular time your going. Have you tried www.hostelbookers.com

I was there in march. When we were at the Visitor center near Central Station, the girl in front of us got a room in a hostel through them. They asked her how much she wanted to pay, then showed her the choices available (there were only 2 and this was in March). Then she paid for it there and they gave her directions how to get to it. I was very impressed, but way to nervous to risk accommodations to the last minute. I used this site to get my hotel room. Check it out:

ditto what cleo said, unless you want to sleep in vondelpark make a reservation somewhere. Where did you look? I went to hotels.com and found places available this weekend. They were pricey though.
