I know he played the Transsexual Dr Frank N Furter in a convincing manner but he has a varied acting career, can camp it up and play it straight. I never see him do interviews on TV/Radio or in magazines and always wondered. I am interested to know as I thought Richard O'Brien was gay (Riff Raff) and he has happily married!

Yes, he is - but as you pointed out, he's very versatile & talented.
He is usually intensely private regarding his personal life, which is why you don't see pix of him with his lovers (male or female).
He's got a wonderful voice, is a great actor. I've been a fan for
many many years & try to catch all of his work.

Well, it looks like the question was never really answered. Half the comments say he is gay and the other half say he is straight. There is only a few that would really know the real answer to that question. Tim Curry, anyone he has been with sexually, and God. So, why do we ever bother to even ask the question because even if you asked him the question he could always lie. And, just because you are married and have kids does not mean that you are not really gay. Um, Elton John, enough said.

About 10 or so years ago he did an interview and was asked that exact question and his answer was no but as a result of the Rocky horror picture show he felt he was "typecast" as something of an excentric (sorry if spelling is incorrect) and gay. So he moved on to other types of roles - He did Legend with Tom cruise and one of the reasons he was chosen to do the role was because he was able to walk in High heeled shoes. He often thinks of it as a "gag" but he is hetrosexual not homosexual

I think he is. But no matter which way he likes it...i've always liked his acting, and he has a great voice.
