Yes its an Islamic state in Southeast asia about 85% is Muslim and about 10% is Buddhist and 2% is Christian or other.

Islam is not added to the country's name. It is known as Republic of Indonesia where as Pakistan is an islamic country.(Islamic Republic of Pakistan.) Indonesia has largest muslim population in the world.

Indonesia has a large violent Islamic population who are pushing to make all of Indonesia Islamic. Everywhere Islam exists it has bloody borders.

I have a friend from Indonesia who paints a different picture. If he's Islamic, he's certainly one of the most laidback and hip Muslims I know of. I would certainly take precautions when going there, yes, but I'd also make friends there, too.
