There are 3 ranges in clothes for small children. The smallest ones are "baby" sizes--3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months. Next largest are "toddler" sizes--2T, 3T, 4T. And finally comes "children's" sizes--2, 3, 4, etc.

The baby's sizes are the smallest (for the same nominal age), then toddler's, then children's. The smaller ranges are also usually less expensive, as well. So, a 24 months size is smaller and cheaper than a 2T, which is smaller and cheaper than a 2. Baby's and toddler's clothes usually have adjustments for little bodies, including a wider cut for diapers and a snap or overlap shoulder to get over the head. Children's clothes are cut more like adult clothes.

The *average* child wears the next-bigger size than their age. So a 6 month old would *likely* wear 9 month size, or a 3 year old would wear a size 4. But children come in all different sizes.

Baby sizes only go up to 24 months and after that they change the size to 2T and 3T and so on. They are toddler sizes for 2, 3, 4 year olds. Did that make sense? I hope so =)

The T stands for toddler. Most of the time (notice the most, not all of the time) a 2 year old will wear a 2T while a three year old is in a 3T...so on.

2T means 2 year old toddler, etc. The only problem is that you really cannot campare age to size when buying childrens clothes, unless the child is small for their age. Most times you want to buy one size larger then their age. So, if the child is 2 years old, you want to buy a 3T. The same goes for infant clothes. If they are 3 mos. old, then you are better off buying the 6 mos. old clothing.

it means "toddler". When your kids get to big for the 12 months and 24 months size clothes you buy these "2T, 3T", etc. These clothes are not as "baby". They are for a little kid walking around, running, etc. My son is 3 and he wears a 4T.
