i had a 91 honda civic, and had a similiar problem, if there is coolant in it it may not be circulating properly, i.e. your water pump may not be working. they are very tough little cars, but i wouldnt recomend driving it till youve had that checked.

The previous poster is right....it could be any number of things other than just coolant levels...get to the garage pronto, but if it is really far away, you might need to have it towed. (Don't drive your car if it is all overheating and smoke is coming in to the inside....it can really mess it up.)

(Ok, so this happenned to me, and my car stopped 3 blocks from the garage, so the police came along and pushed me off the road: into a Porsche dealership! Totally embarassing.)

The thermostat may be stuck shut, preventing coolant from circulating. Get thee to a garage, pronto!

Either the thermostat is stuck closed, the radiator fan motor is not turning on, radiator is clogged, road dirt blocking the radiator cooling fins.

Good Luck

My dear, you had better check your radiator fluid AFTER YOUR ENGINE COOLS DOWN!...You probably are low on fluid...If this continues, your THERMOSTAT needs replacing...It isn't expensive, but don't go too far without doing these things! YOU COULD BURN YOUR ENGINE UP--BOIL IT DOWN!! And Hondas are great vehicles...It's probably only a minor problem!...snoopy
