When I was 8 my school gave us those small carpet squares you can buy at Wal-Mart for under $5. We all put paint on our hands and painted a picture for our fathers on Father's Day...My dad still has his almost a decade later. His has a yellow duck on it because we had a duck stencil.

Give them magazines and catalogs. Let them cut out pictures of everything they would like to give Daddy. Then help them make a little booklet/card by pasting the pictures on card stock or other heavy paper. Let them draw a picture on the page that will be the cover. Take 'dictation' from them and/or help them write their message on it. Punch two holes in the covers--back and front--put a ribbon thru it and tie it.
My dad (kids' grampa) still has the one my kids made him!! My kids are almost grown now.
