I have the original Shogun (before it became Samurai Swords) and Fortress America, but never got the Axis & Allies. Ironically, my parents said it was too expensive at $24.99... and now the successor games are selling for $45.99!

I doubt they'll ever print the original again now that the revised edition is out. Check http://www.boardgamegeek.com/ for used copies.

The specific page for A&A is:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/10093

Be careful, while you're there you'll probably find a billion other games you want as well!

it's completely free and it's very fast to install
You can pick to be either the Allied powers of Britain, Russia, and America, or instead opt to play as the Axis powers of Germany and Japan. Either way, this is a worldwide conflict where you'll have to learn to play strategically across two fronts, no matter who you’re playing as.
It's the best game.

I was always a fan of Avalon Hill games. Panzer Blitz was my fave. I have not heard of any new editions of any of their games. Try searching Avalon Hill on the web.
