Is it a ligit clinically diagnosed disorder that would explain voilent people such as road ragers and wife beaters? Or is it merely another reason to drug someone and make an excuse of their behavior?

I think it is a bunch of BS. It's just science trying to come up with technical names for everything, why can't they just call it a temper tantrum, since that's what it is? No, it is not a legitimate disorder, it is a load of crap.

Hey!
Good question...thanks for asking!

There might be something in-between to explain so-called "road rage".
Clearly, it is an anger-related issue.

Some people are very impatient, others are very frustrated.
Being a civilized (or so we say) society, we've created tools to speed up results: computers, cell phones, fast cars and wide open roads.
When things don't go as quickly as we've become used to (especially when we have deadlines to meet), it is normal to express frustration.
However, that frustration can manifest into anger.

What some (perhaps many) people need is some down-time - get away from the wired society we live in, take stock of our lives and reconnect to nature and the natural flow of life.

I'm not a fan of popping pills to control symptoms.
Drugs have become part of this fast-paced society, a quick-fix (albiet temporary) solution so we can get on with our ever-increasing fast paced lives.

With that said, then yes, there should be some clinical diagnose to help those who refuse to help themselves.
Personally, those people should be locked in padded cells until they return to some degree of normal.
But bottom line: something is wrong when people shoot at others who might have made a stupid driving mistake.

It's merely another bull-crap excuse for people NOT to control themselves.
