How would allowing gays to marry affect your marriage, if at all?

should we outlaw all marriages of convenience (ie: people getting married for just the benefits) or just the gay ones?

I have no problem with allowing gay people the rigth to get married! It would not effect my marriage in the least. The problem is with all these religious bible pounding pinheads that keep trying to link the "LEGAL portion" of marriage to the religious moral beliefs. Would it be wrong in God's eyes to have gay people get married? Maybe...maybe not! I don't know and I don't think that is what gay people are asking for! I think they want...and deserve the LEGAL rights of being a couple! Gay couples should be allowed to live together and recieve the same benefits that any other married couple would. Rights of survivorship and property...parenting rights...tax breaks. Why would it be wrong to give two people the legal right to be a couple???
Who cares about a moral opinion...they aren't looking for the "blessings of God"...they just want the same legal things any other married couple gets!

It won't affect mine. The question to me is how will it affect people who are getting married now. Personally, I don't believe divorce is the best solution to any problem. Sometimes it's just the lesser of several bad choices. If divorce was as hard as I would like to see it, I don't know many gay couples that would want it. Two that I know personally, of the many. Most gay couples that I know are always on the look out, and that's not what I'd call mariage. They just want the marriage certificate so they can share medical benifits for the few months they're together. Now in the cases where a gay couple is actually looking for mariage, I'm all for it. But in those cases where they just want to share medical benifits for a few months, I'm okay with an option for that, but I don't want to see it called mariage.

It would not affect your marriage directly, but it would affect society and marriage in general. Gays say they want to be treated like normal people, and I am perfectly willing to do that, by why do so many stick their sexuality in our faces? Maybe if they didnt make such a big deal about it, and quietly went on with their lives, I would be okay with it.

That depends upon the man or woman's authorized repute. I realize a trans-guy who's within the approach of having his gender modified legally from feminine (as he was once born) to male (as he identifies now). If he had been to marry a lady now, it could be homosexual marriage (when you consider that he's nonetheless, legally, feminine). If he waits till after he's legally male, it could now not be homosexual marriage. Which is going to exhibit how foolish these kind of gender regulations rather are whilst you attempt to observe them to marriage.

Hmmmmm.... wow! NOT AT ALL!!! Come to think of it, if gays could marry it wouldn't affect me in any way ~ except that my cousin could marry the man he loves just as much as I love my husband.

It wouldn't affect my marriage at all. People should be allowed to marry regardless of their sexual preferences.

As we are a heterosexual couple, that wouldn't change our situation.
Homosexual couples should get the right to marry.
