if I receive extremely poor service - I leave a penny - most of the younger waitstaff find out what that means when they complain to their manager about the jerk who left them a penny - otherwise I tip appropriately for good service and not just at a restaurant - all service jobs are usually poor paying to begin with and some folks still go out of their way to provide good service - also the " super syrupy sweet" folks who harrass you every 2 minutes do not get a tip because they are not trying to give good service- they are trying to rush you :)

I tip pretty much everywere if the service is good. If it was poor I do not tip, instead I leave a note telling the person that they were so rude and I am telling the manager and not comming back. I can be just as rude and nasty to people as they are to me.
But if all is good I tip if it is especially good service or hair cut I tip a whole heck of a lot to tell them their hard work was noticed and appreciated. And sometimes leave them a thank you note to let them know exactly what they did to get such a big tip so they can repeat it and make a lot of money.

I know waiters and waitress work hard for very little pay or benefits and depend on the tips, I like to leave about 25% to like diner waitress and about 20% to fancy restaurants. I Leave a tip with the hairdresser, moving men, gas attendants and such, the amount of tip depends on my mood or money resources at the time. Some situations are ify like if the person owns the business, etc.

I tip at sit down restaurants and my hairdresser. I do not tip the Sonic car hops either.
My standard is if I see the bottom of my iced tea glass and I have to wait for a refill, you are NOT getting a tip.

I usually tip a resturants like a fine Mexican resturant, or where I would get a waiter/waitress. I don't go to the salon or anything, so I can't help there. I usually tip $5 but if the service was crappy, I tip them $2 or $3.

I tip both! My mom is a hairdresser and she says 85% of all people do tip. Don't be so cheap.
I will not tip the flower delivery person or bad service at a restaurant.

I'm a hairdresser. Why would you not tip me? I work my butt off to make people happy and always do a good job. It is an art. Tipping is part of how I make my living. I remember good tippers, and I remember non tippers. Consider that next time you sit in my chair cheapskate.

I don`t tip because I live in Japan and it is an insult to tip. The only time you`re suppose to tip is if you get a taxi ride and they help you with your luggage. Even then they don`t always take it.
