I´ve seen all of the offered telecasters at www.fender.com. I´m looking for a good guitar, one that I´ll mostly use as a rythm guitar, cause i am not fond of great guitar solos. I´ve also tried Stratocasters but I am looking for a cleaner, more bolder sound, for rock, pop and folk music. What I´d like to have is an answer on quality vs. cost basis. For example: is there really that much difference between Custom an Vintage or Deluxe Series?

Each and every guitar sounds differently. I would suggest you go to your local music store and try out various strats.

A telecaster is a great rythym instrument and lends itself to country music and blues, but could be used for other styles as well. Its curved radius on the fingerboard tends to be easier to form barre chords on then a flatter fingerboard like the ones on a Gibson Les Paul. I would buy an American Tele as opposed to buying one of the ones that are made in Mexico. Even though the Mexican tele's actually sound and play great they don't hold their value like the American ones. You really don't need to go for the reissues or special edition Teles to get what you want out of the Guitar. You won't get all the sounds that you are looking for out of one guitar and need to consider which instrument is right for you at this stage. Most guitar player own 3-5 guitars. I'm a bass player and I own 4 basses and each one is suited for a different style and sound. I hope this helps!

You probably want to go with an American Telecaster. The American Series pickups and deluxe hardware with original '52 ash or alder body dimensions give you more resonance and tone. You don't really need a custom or deluxe. It's more money for little upgrades that you won't really need for just playing rythm. Just make sure that whatever kind of Fender you get, that it's an American Series.

A tele is NOT a great rhythm instrument, unless you get humbucking pickups in it. They are way too "thin" sounding, to make a decent rhythm line. :) There are several models WITH humbucking pickups. Anything of that nature should adaquately fit your need. Go to your local music store that has a fender dealership, and try several out. Then, go order one through Musicians Friend. lol!

You might want to look more at the heads than you do the guitars. Don't get me wrong, Fenders are awesome, but check out the Peavey XXL head, very nice!!

Like in any artistic area it will, in the end, really be up to your personal feelings .... play them all .. and multiple ones of each type ... sooner or later you will put one in your hand and you will "just know".
