They hit rock bottom in May after the loss of Derek Lee. The Cardinals have just lost Pujols. Prior is set to return soon. Wade Miller could be right behind him. Wood is back. The Cubs took the series from the Cards this weekend at Busch, the first team to do so at the new stadium. They took 2 of 3 from the red hot Reds. They whipped the Astros yesterday. Are they bouncing back from hitting rock bottom? Will they go back to the team they were in April?

I think that the Cubs still have a chance to come back, become either the NL Central Division Champions or the NL Wild Card, win the NL Championship and then the World Series in 2006.

I think the cubs do not have what it takes to compete with the good teams in the league even when they get Prior, and Lee back. Once The Cards get Pujols back and if the Reds can get someone to replace Claussen which if he continues to pitch like he has our new owners will get what they need the Reds and the Cardinals will be the teams to beat in the Central.

I don't, for one reason: THEY STILL SUCK!!! So what if they won a few games? There have a very poorly put together team, poor pitching, Wood will get injured again, and Lee is only one player. Trust me the Cubs will be lucky to finish at .500.

I would love to see the Cubs be the comeback team of 2006, but their past history of incompetence makes that hardly a possibility. Although, I must say you do make a good case scenario for them.

Go Cubbies!!

I hope they can make a comeback, but after all these years...all we can do is hope.

However, I have to say, even though I'm a Cubs fan, as a Chicagoan (?) it was nice to see our town win SOMETHING with the Sox.
