Something that won't get them beat up in school. I think Hollywood people can name their kids whatever they want because they have bodyguards and money, but do you really want to send your kid "Peach Fuzz" to a public school in the hood? There are already too many things for kids to make fun of - but that doesn't mean that there aren't too many John's and Mike's in the world. I think you need to find something in between boring and stupid. Christian and Chloe are my picks.

It's kinda impossible to group them all together like that. I don't like ALL traditional names, I don't like ALL Alternative names. But there are a few in both categories which I love. There is also a happy medium by choosing an alternative spelling. We did that with our daughter, Cathryn. I love the traditional name, but not the traditional spellings: Catherine, Kathryn, Catharine, etc. So we tweaked it a bit and wound up with Cathryn. I love it. Biggest problems are that it's impossible for others to remember the spelling and you can't find any pre-made monogramed stuff spelled that way. You have to special order.
I guess if I had to group the names like you're asking, I'd prefer more traditional, or in your words, mediocre names. Somehow, I can't imagine looking into a crib at an adorable little baby and saying, "Oh, look how cute little Bambi is in her crib." That sounds like a stripper's name. If the child wants to take a nickname like that for herself later in life, so be it. But don't pick a crazy name for her. She has no choice in the matter! That's unfair!

do the people who name their children these alternative names really think about the concequences of naming them names like bambi or apple. They are making it all the easier for kids to make fun of them. And do not think that they won't. Kids do that and giving them the amunition they need with names is sorta mean. You don't have to name your kids John or Susan to find actual names that are unique and uncommon without just picking a word and calling it a name.

When we found out I was pregnant we played around with a great many names. Oddly enough we only came up with names for a girl even before it was confirmed that we were having one.
We tried family names:
Amy, Mae, Dorothy, Beulah...
Obviously none of those combine well. Can you imagine living down South and hollering "Beulah Mae! You get your fanny back here right now!!" or "Dorothy Amy! Have you done your homework yet?"
So instead we chose a name that reflects our Scottish heritage and named our little one Bonnie Rose. Translated it means
"Beautiful girl of the flowers"
It may not be a name that anyone likes but it sure suits our pretty little girl.

I'm choose the first category, cause the second is like a pet name. My neighbour's dog named Bambi, so don't choose that name for your child
Before naming my child I wil think about :
--Meaning
--Unique or not
--Should contain with first, maide, last name.
--For the last name is combination between my name and my future husband (I'm still 16 years old)
--Spell and sound is good...
I'll get my new sister (due this October)'she'll be name Georgina Ammerita Divina
My full name is Gabrielle Anastasia Devina. Our first word in our name will be same...
Take care
Dee

Gotta go with the first group. I am so tired of people giving kids names that aren't actually names!
