At the Beginning of March I had given a company 900 dollars for a modeling competition. THe money was to be used for room and board in a five-star hotel, and all the passes into the parties. I am supposed to pay for transportation. Well come to find out, that I am supposed to be sharing a room with someone and the event is not all it is supposed to be and I will not be able to make it to event for various reasons which is to be held sept. 1-3. I call the company and they tell me there are no refunds at all, which I was never told. I call my credit card company AMEX and they say it is too late to dispute. What do I do..? I have received no services from them at all and I know there is a way to receive my money back. I have been trying to get in contact with a legal aid representative but the phone lines stay busy. Is there anyone who has had any experience with this or legal background to direct me in the right decision or tell me to leave it alone cus nuttin can b done.

small claims court can take care of you. If you paid for something and didnt recieve it and you werent told or signed something saying you wouldne be getting a refund, then you can take them to small claims court. You dont need an attorney. Just call the courthouse and ask them how you file a small claims lawsuit. I would also call the better business bureau or go online for the BBB, they give them a bad rep and you will get your money back. It might be difficult and take a while but you will get it back.

What does the contract you signed say regarding a refund. Also, if the reason you cannot attend is because of a scheduling issue with you, then it is not the other company's fault and thus they likely have not breached their agreement. The big question that I need to have answered is WHAT DOES THE CONTRACT SAY?!?!?!
