Look, its obvious you are into the self-expression thing, but belly button rings scream "I am not happy with my appearance, so I need the extra attention."
And since you are not gay, you are going to find that a belly ring is going to get you a lot of attention from guys who are. It will also scare away women, since they usually don't like to be with guys who are higher maintenance than they are.

I have never heard of a guy with a belly ring before. Just go for a simple one in a neutral colour, nothing dangling or you will look gay

I think you should get a few, try them and then decide on what feels best and what look you like. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks or says- it's your body. Just try out a few so that you can base your opinion upon your own experience.
