my mom and my mothers mom and my husband's grandmother all say a yes. my babies dr on the other hand says no. my 8 month old daughter is teething like crazy and has been running a mild fever on and off the last 3 days. so to be on the safe side we took to to the dr's yesterday and she said she was fine she must have caught a little bug. because a fever and teething have nothing to do with eachother.every few years it seems the rules change. like only put your baby to sleep on there tummys now it's only on there backs. and now your not supposta use baby powder any more. what's next? so do you think they do go hand in hand or
or you you think the new therroy is correct that they dont have any thing to do with eachother? i dont know but it is strange that most babies seem to get a fever causing bug right around teething time.

i think you are right, my baby has a slight fever and she is teething, the docs said the same thing to me, but i think they are wrong. i am a nurse, and when people are in pain, their temp tends to increase, its a bodies natural response, so why not with babies too

No, teething and fevers have nothing to do with each other. During the teething process, the body's immune system is compromised allowing viral infections to mutate faster and easier. This is why doctors no longer feel there's significant evidence that teething and fever go hand in hand.

Our pediatrician says that kids DO get a mild fever at teething time, right around when the tooth is breaking through.

Yes, theories change all the time. It drives me insane.
Trust your own instincts -- Mommy knows best -- on anything that is not dangerous or life-threatening.

I honestly KNOW it goes hand in hand. I am studying Nursing and all the babies that are teething get mild fevers once in a while while they are teething. Get a second opinion. Your Doc. is a moron.

many babies run low grade fevers when teething. check it regularly, if it rises above 100, give the child some baby motrin. It'll reduce the fever and ease the discomfort of teething

Yes...so does a running nose and diaper rash. Some doctors claim that none of these are related to teething but all four of my children got running noses, mild fevers, and occasional diaper rash while teething.

well I say they are related, my son had a fever of 103.6 and I rushed him to the hospital and they did every test you can think of and there was NO reason and then 2 days later, when i went in for a after hospital check up, the doctor said it was due to his teething, now one of his molars has started to come through! every doctor has a different opinion! BTW my son is 16 months old, and everytime a tooth has come in he has had a fever and vomiting.

Some say that a low grade temperature is normal because the body is protecting itself from infection while the teeth arupt through the gums. This does not happen with all babies though.

My sister has a boy and a girl. And they both used teething and a fever. The best thing is to get them to relax. Baby oral gel or a warm wash cloth and a warm bottle.
