Omar, the English like much ado about nothing. Wayne Rooney is their talisman it seems. Naturally they will not win the world cup but now they have an excuse for failing.

i know what you are talking about. It's rooney this and rooney that. Let's get one thing straight, rooney IS a great player. But he is reckless and undisciplined. Give him five years and he'll be at the top of his game. He will mature, but in the meantime, who needs rooney when you've got "robot" crouch?

Rooney is our equvalent to Pele or someone of that stature. He is especially popular because he appeals to the everyday man, he's ugly, aggressive and not that clever but he's great at football, and he never gives up. Rooney is our undoubted talisman.

Because he's a quality player and also, the English media have to build somebody up for every major tournament. It's the law!

He may still not 'mature' as you put it but he is still our biggest hope! England havent seen a talent like him in many a year. He has the potential to explode on the world stage this year and to see someone do that in an England shirt is an exciting prospect.

because he is the best that can score the goals if all the others cover thier departments, he's young, fast and powerful. but he was in euro 2004 where he played well but they didnt win the tournament.
