The ranks are the results of teachers.However students do tend to have a competitive thinking.Each one wants to do better than the other.It is human nature.However teachers introduce these distinctions to encourage good students and to ignite the student spirit to do better.

ranks are a results of students hard work. If the teacher teaches and the student does not learn or understand. then there would be a bad rank. and if the teacher does not teach and the student has the zeal to learn then in today's world he can learn from anywhere. definitely the ranks are a result of students hardwork
