The answerer at the top deserves a good whipping. Not to mention, they are risking both their employer, their insurance company, and themselves a whole lot of $$ if they did accidentaly hit someone. What an idiot.
I think its mumbo jumbo. People get stuck in traffic after a hardf day at work (or on their way in to work, where they will get in trouble if they are late). It just builds up and builds up day after day until they explode. But to call it a syndrome is just another way of passing the buck- its not MY fault that I got out and beat up the 80 year old driver in front of my for going 2 miles an hour under the speed limit officer, I have the road rage syndrome! What crap

I think a lot of people that experience 'road -rage syndrome' are the same people in society that have little or no control over their tempers.
But at the same time, my mother is a very reserved personality, until she gets behind the wheel, and then it's quite perturbing to see this agressive woman emerge, like she's going into battle!
It is a constant stress driving in the city, even more so if you were not a particularly patient individual to begin with.
So, to answer your question I would say that it was a phenomenon that doesn't deserve a scientific name, but is without a doubt the symptom of over-congested highways, unchecked tempers and drivers who, once they get their licence, believe they know better.
I saw this pretty amusing 'road-rage' clash years ago...I was sitting outside at this corner cafe when a car horn starts honking violently at another car in front of them at the narrow street opposite the cafe. The driver in the car behind was obviously frustrated at the car in front as they were being a tad more cautious and taking their time turning into the busy main road. All of a sudden the honker was out of his car and at the window of the other car shouting bloody murder at the driver. So the other driver gets out, they get into a punch up slap-bang in the middle of the road (and I'm talking ALL over it, rolling around on the bitumen and everything) and then as quickly as it had begun, it was over. They both got back into their separate cars and drove away...??? madness!

A combination of over- congested highways and under-trained drivers and a now culture causes road rage.

Under-trained drivers is a discriminatory comment.
They passed the same test as the rest of us?
Remember me?
Bean or not to bean?
Just so you know I am also a "Beaner" and proud of it, so grow up. You obviously don't even know the true meaning of the expression. Not that I want to waste the time but here ya' go
A "beaner" is someone who eats beans all week so that when the weekend comes they can afford to celebrate a very hard week's worth of work and have the family over and eat and drink like kings. THAT is a beaner so don’t be so fast to throw the racial card into play. Racism is non existent in my neighborhood. We have a wonderful cultural mix. And we all get along great. You disappoint me

Yeah I have recently heard about this new disease that is out and can of course be treated with anti depressants... wonder who is doing this study or studies? It is ridiculous, before long there will not be a living human that isnt on some kind of drug for some disease or another... this is really getting out of hand and the thing is every one is jumping on the bandwagon..... I don't get it myself... they lower the number so now all these are diabetics and don't know it yet... then the cholesteral numbers lower and everyone has high cholesteral... this is all being done by the manufacturers of pharmaceutical companies to raise their profits...

I only get road rage if I drive in the "big city" so yes I think it is due to over crowded highways and under trained drivers. And people should SLOW DOWN before life passes them by.

There will always be taffic and always be impatient drivers I don't think it depends on our culture, it depends on how well you can handle the sittuation..... I, now at 22 try my best to get over my "get to the head of the pack" addiction.. I think people just need to take a breather, calm down & realize that if you speed and drive like you are trying to commit suicide, it may make you a few minutes earlier but it's not worth the danger you put yourself and fellow commuters in!

I do not believe in this syndrome.
It's called getting frustrated and then getting pissed off. And your over-congested highways and under-trained drivers and a now, NOW culture has merit as well.

Oh no, I road rage all the time. I'm a heavy equipment hauler and when people piss me off, I get beside them and whip my trailer towards them and they get the message. I figure if I make an example out of one of them, the rest will get the message. I want to put car stamps on the side of my truck for the cars I harass. Get out of the way butthead!!!

I will partly agree with the study. However, if you live in the city where is very congested, is more of an enviroment than anything else.
