If you mean modding in the context of computer software or computer/console games then it means modifying an existing piece of software to provide a new or altered function.

Modifying, usuallly changing or updating something. I guess a computer since this is in that category. Like maybe upgrading the video card or adding a water-cooling system or a new motherboard.
