Science tells us that chickens evolved from non-chickens through small changes caused by the mixing of male and female DNA or by mutations to the DNA that produced the zygote ( egg). These changes and mutations only have an effect at the point where a new zygote is created. That is, two non-chickens mated and the DNA in their new zygote contained the mutations that produced the first true chicken.
So i would this it's safe to assume that the egg came first.
Best of luck to you.

Scientifically, the chicken came first. When Earth first began to have organisms, they only had one cell. This meant that it was a very primitive form of reproduction so it just split up and made another one. So reasonably, the chicken's ancestors were these single cell organisms, which eventually evolved into the chicken, and the complications of secondary reproduction came later.

The egg would need fertilization to become a chicken. So...the chicken. But if you want logic, does the chicken really exist? Do we??? (sob)hello????
