What a totally stupid waste of time and energy. A total diversion from issues of consequence, like, The immoral war in Iraq, the justified war in Afghanistan, $3/gal gasoline, the impending double digit inflation, Tax givebacks to the people who need it least, Rampant voter fraud which destroys the foundation of our country , to name but a few. Yet this nimrod is worried about the definition of marriage in the country. Our current goverment does not posess one individual who has the ethics or conviction to be messing with our constitution. Given that there is also rampant corruption and lying from our administration I think we 'd better be very careful about taking direction from their particular faith.

Bush will go down in history as the worst president this nation has ever suffered....he has lied to the American people; enriched his Texas cronies, stolen an election, and spent this country into horrid debt. His rating is 35% !!!it has been a long time since that has happen in this country (Warren G. Harding was even better rated). If this idiot doesn't get us into a war with Iran, count us lucky...... (Who cares if two gay people want to marry ...what goes on behind closed doors is their business....let them too suffer all the problems of spousal support, property division, yadayadayada. Who cares??????)

I also agree with all of the answers above... Bush has been the worst president in the history of the US!!! He has NO RIGHT getting involved in issues regarding marriage. He is using marriage as a DISTRACTION from his mistakes and lies he's been hiding (or trying to hide) all of these years. You don't have to take my word for it. Do some research on the internet about the scams he's been involved with from day one!!! I honestly don't know how Bush sleeps at night, or you for that matter.

I think he is now running scared. He knows he is the most disliked & distrusted President the USA has ever had & is now trying to win supporters in the less open-minded section of the population. I think he feels that if he promotes the old fashioned "values" he will win back the esteem of older voters. I fear he will, instead, lose more younger votes.
Its all "too little, too late" for him now because no-one listens to him anymore. He is a national joke.

it is true that Bush is a very unpopular President, however, there have been many presidents that have been hated in their day, but have became popular as time went by and their acheivements have lived on and on. Lincoln was hated in his time because of his belief of equality among all humans. later he became one of the most popular presidents in history for freeing the slaves. so, what I am saying is Time will decide the popularity or unpopularity of this Presidents legacy.

Err, no. He's sunk to new depths in my estimation. I took heart from reports that say this legislation he's proposing is unlikely to be passed. I sincerely hope that it won't.
Some people want to get married. If they're in love why on earth would anyone want to stop them making a commitment to each other?
