Plastic surgery is just a more drastic way to change your appearance, but is not really that much different than using makeup or a push up bra (in my opinion). If you get the plastic surgery because you would like a part of your appearance changed then go for it. If you are doing it because you are depressed, because you think it will make you happy, or because you want others to like you more, then you may want to rethink your decision. Changing your looks does not change who you are.

Put me down for YAY.
Plastic surgery really got it's start during and after World War II, when there were a lot of wounded veterans who needed or wanted reconstructive surgery to help them live normally. For me, it's hard to say no to that.
Plastic surgery has also been a boon to plenty of other people. I have a cousin who doesn't have a horrible disfiguring scar on her neck after an accident because a plastic surgeon patched her up in the emergency room.
I have a friend whose back problems vanished after she had a breast reduction. She had been struggling through pain and physical therapy for years before she took the step and has never regretted it.
I have an aunt whose husband divorced her when she turned fifty - so she went to Europe with some friends and had a tummy tuck and a couple other things done. She felt better about herself almost immediately and today is healthy, happy, and well.
I know there are a few people out there who have plastic surgery for fun, or because they're just plain addicted to it - but I really think those people are outweighed by the many who have a legitimate need for plastic surgery.
