No he broke a rule that is written in every clubhouse. Everyone KNOWS that is the rule. It is very clear. Should they put a plaque in pointing out he is the all-time hits leader? Sure they should do that for all the statistics. Just change the name if someone manages to top him.

I've always had a conflict when it comes to old Charlie Hustle. As a player, Rose was phenomenal. We are talking about a player who has:

1. Most career hits (4,256)
2. Most career games played (3,562)
3. Most career at bats (14,053)
4. Fifth in career runs (2,165)
5. Most career total bases, switch-hitter (5,752) (sixth overall)
6. Second in career doubles (746)
7. 44-game hitting streak (tied for 2nd longest in history)
8. The NL MVP Award (1973)
9. The NL Rookie of the Year Award (1963)
10. 17 All-Star appearances
11. Three World Series rings (1975, 1976, 1980)
12. World Series MVP (1975)
13. Fifth in career post season hits (86)
14. Tenth in career post season total bases (118)
15. Ninth in career post season at bats (268)
16. Three batting titles
17. Two Gold Gloves (1969 and 1970, both for outfield)
18. Most seasons of 200 or more hits (10)
19. Played 500 or more games at five different positions (only player to do so)
20. Seven hitting titles
21. Five game titles
22. Five doubles titles
23. Four baserunning titles

That is a resume for induction if I ever did see one.

Nonetheless, the rules are the rules and Rose broke the rules. Its a painful dichotomy.

Based on just Rose's PROFESSIONAL achievements and stripping away everything else, I would have to say that Yes, Charlie Hustle should have a plaque in Cooperstown......

No. He gambled, got caught, lied about it, then finally told the truth to sell books. Rose is a scumbag and should never be allowed into the hall.

Just to be clear, as a player he deserves to be in the HOF, but he was selfish even then. He continued to play for several years when he was hurting his team. He was the worse 1B in baseballl for his last five years. He stayed so he would break Ty Cobb's record.

Imagine how hated Barry Bonds would be if he played for five more years, while hurting his team, in order to pass Hank Aaron. That is the same thing Rose did.

Rose is an embarassment to baseball

If they let Bonds in the hall of fame, then Rose should definitely be put into the hall.

Yes he should be, sports bettin is not as bad as cheatin to get ur stats, and Rose numbers are undenuable, If he's not in the Hall of Fame MLB is making a huge mistake

Because he has more hits than anyone in history, he should be in the hall of fame.

His gambling is why he is not in the hall, but his gambling did not make him get more hits.

I would not want someone who cheated to get a record and get in the hall like using steroids and hitting 715 hrs.

His baseball accomplishments should be recognized in the hall of fame. Things like gambling that did not equal more hits should not keep him out.

Yes. His numbers are irrefutable. Betting on baseball is not like steroids. It cannot increase your statistics. It should not keep him out of the hall. Even though Josh Gibson played in the ***** Leagues, he got in. Pete Rose is deserving.

Yes. If they can let in racists, drunks, womanizers, pill poppers, pot smokers and wife beaters in the Hall Of Fame, they can let in a guy who bet on his own team. **** everybody else who says differently.
