He was a slaver,thief and war leader who raped slaves. How was he holy? He fled Egypt to Africa where he dealt in slaves. Why do western muslims keep this quiet and not have any real answer?

Many muslims have unfortunately been raised muslims but their family who raised them never informed them of these details of course. Therefore, they refuse to believe when they hear it and are ignorant to the fact that islam is a religion of hate, prejudice, violence, war, and the degradation of women. Just look how they still treat women in their own inner society - this should tell you about how good their religion is. Mohammed was a pedophile and a child abuser and for some reason many people still follow islam with their life. We need to make a change and eliminate this horrible religion from the face of the planet.

It seems from reading the answers that few people know about Islam, and I am no expert, but a few basic facts
Muslim is based on the same stuff as Jews, an Christians it only differs in a few bits around JESUS being the son of god or as Muslims believe a mortal prophet.
Mohammed Did not find religion until he was forty and alot us view the world differently as we get older. and sometimes regret earlier choices in life.
due to the pagan Arabs alot of widowed women had no rights of ownership so if someone did not take them in ( Marry them) they could starve to death. Islam does give women rights they did not have before, but stil does not see them as =
As to JC being pure? we know so little about him in the bible it only tells us about his birth, a brief visit to a church when he was 12 and then his last year, alot went on that someone does not want us to know, like the catholic church and the jews.
I am an Atheist so think that all religions are nuts and will prevent mankind from coming together, but Islam is no better or worse than the rest of them.

I don't know about the slaves bit, but the nine year old wife thing might be true, though there's nothing that says he slept with her. He married some women to provide them with protection, like divorcees or widows, I think.
You could say the same thing about the prophets in the old testament.

The Muslim religion is hard to justify. When a guy is like that, it is hard to tell others that he is a great and holy prophet. Jesus was clean and holy, never did he defile his body. That sounds more like an individual to pattern your life around.
I am sure that many Muslims try to maintain a clean, wholesome life , but many of their beliefs aren't based on original scripture and based on tradition. I would assume that their past is a black eye for them, but many of them chose to be part of that religion, so they have to live with criticism.

Ask Salman Rushdie. Or think of approximately that Dutch cartoonist. Or those historic stone buddhas blown up by ability of the Taliban. Muslims take a dim view of human beings doing issues like that. Unintelligent i be responsive to, yet they do. words do no longer injury everybody. Neither do photos. once you start up banning / burning books and destroying artwork works of any style, it is the mark of a barbaric and uncivilised society.

Marriage to very young girls was the 'in thing' at that time' not just the Prophet Mohammed, slavery has only very recently been abolished in the USA.

now my belief regarding the saying that man is naturally poligamous will come into reality soon that a man having more than one woman or even younger girls is not a sin. being holy is what you did something good to others.
