Tat is good that you were feeding them grower feed or as we call it chic starter, you say they are 4 months old, I would say you can mix the chic starter with cracked corn, or you can even just give them the cracked corn, they are plenty old enough, if you have them running free they will also eat the bugs and such pick at the grass and if you have them pinned up, they will eat the cracked corn, and yes bread, and sometimes other slop, but being they are not full grown I would still feed them cracked corn

You do not say where you live.. on a farm? Do the chickens have access to a yard?(where there are bugs, etc to eat?) I have had chickens for a long time and yes, I did buy prepared feed for them(probably what you call grower feed) but we also had corn to feed the chickens, oats and they had the outside grounds to get bugs, etc.

It does sound like she's having an excellent style of feeds an afternoon for a 4 month previous? Newborns could consume each and every 2-3 hours yet 4 month olds could be lasting 3-4 hours. in the beginning, i'd get a 2d opinion suitable to the load, i'd argue that won't an argument in the style of youthful toddler. surprisingly quickly (in some months' time), she'll be crawling which will expend an excellent style of energy, so an excellent toddler relatively isn't something to rigidity approximately stunning now. you could introduce solids from 4 months onwards, completely wisely. yet she could merely be having 4-5 feeds an afternoon now, 6 max. try giving her breakfast, then following with solids (the two my 2 have hated toddler cereal, i'd propose a candy vegetable puree like pumpkin, carrot, butternut or a fruit like mango/banana/paw paw etc extremely of the cereal). If she's finished after breakfast (and it sounds to me like she is a hungry toddler and desires the solids now, i began my youngest at 4 months as she mandatory it too), she could have the means to final til previous due morning in the previous she desires extra nutrition. it is nicely worth spacing the feeds out now, or you would be spending all day feeding her. merely as an occasion, my youngest (now 7 a million/2 months) has been on 4-5 feeds on the grounds that 4 months previous. She has breakfast at 7/7.30, lunch around 11, tea around 3pm, and dinner around 5.30pm approx. She sleeps by the evening, is putting on the main suitable suited volume of weight, and is merely superb. She additionally loves each and every new style I supply her :-) while it contains quantities, merely make up somewhat at a time - you will quickly discover out how plenty she needs. My youngest at present wolfs down 180mls of formula, and a pair of ice cubes of solids (I usually make my own, placed it into ice cube trays and freeze it. Very available for throwing a meal jointly later, having each and every thing already interior the freezer!). while she gets finished, she'll quit establishing her mouth, seem away, or get circulate with you :-) merely bypass with the bypass and revel interior the approach!

feed them some chicken scratch.....which is corn....the feed store will know what scratch is.....mix some with the grower and spread some on the ground...if they are hens you can probably start giving them laying mash...it helps with egg production. Just make sure you get scratch....not cracked corn...it is too big for them to eat
