Check with the state employment agency. They normally have jobs for military spouses .

A great way (if you can already type) to break into being a secretary is through a temp agency- Manpower, Adecco, somethign like that. You'll get short term assignments here and there, you could even land a long term one. And if you do a good job, the place might hire you on permanently. In any case, you end up getting a lot of experience in a number of different settings, which keeps it interesting for you, but gets you a lot of exposure as well. Just be sure you can type rather well and accurately!

In the past, when the Armed Forces were still an honourable and decent institution, they used to have a system to look after their own, which included the wives of officers and enlisted men. This system worked fine and everyone was happy. I am not sure how things are today where we see the military involved in illegal wars and immoral occupations as well as other war crimes and abuse of human rights. In my active time no wife of an active service man would have to go outside the base community for finding a job.

The best thing to do is start college and get your education. The Air Base should have resources to get you started and help with financials if not the local community college is another good place to start and check into financial aid to help pay for college. It will be hard at first but when you graduate it will all be worth it and you'll make more money in the long run.

Well, this is the last place you should be spending your online time if you're looking for a job. Go to hotjobs.com or monster.com or look in your local newspaper in the classified section for employment.
I doubt you will find anyone here that is going to tell you of a job opening in the Virginia area as Yahoo Answers isn't centered on the East Coast.

If you need a job immediately you would be better off applying at temporary agencies. They will often start you on a position quickly and pay you for your work at the end of the week. I've enclosed the url for a website I've used to keep a record of ads and letters that I've sent out while job hunting. It is very useful and FREE. It will keep companies and contacts in the database for you so you can refer to it daily.
Best of Luck,
Karen

Isn't there some facility on base to assist military spouses in finding employment? There are usually many civilian jobs on a military base. Have your husband check with his personnel section (maybe S-1). Maybe they can provide you with resources to contact.

Get a part time job doing anythiong to make extra money....but enroll yourself in a community college. Continue your education. Improve yourself. Don't sit around and wait for a man to come save the day.

Try the military base, they actually hire civilians. I worked at the hospital on a military base as a receptionist.
Best of luck sweetie, Marilyn
