He's really interested in learning. I took him to the circus, and he saw a sword swallower there. The circus was a small one and said they would hire him if he learned regardless of his age. His mom let's me spend a lot of time with him. We've been using bamboo shish-kabob skewers. He started because he has a very low gag reflex. At night I massage baby oil on his neck and chest to ease the swelling when he is asleep. Does anyone have suggestions for how to help him good?

Very positive use of you spare time. Just don't let anyone sneak up on him while practice. Just practice.

You can help him by encouraging him to get help from a professional. Sword swallowing is not for everybody to try out. As a matter of fact, how much do YOU know about the art to be helping him. Swordswallowing is not a trick or an illusion..it is a dangerous performing art. The fact that you mentioned gag reflex tells me you do know something about it but it has been said that a little learning may be a dangerous thing
