My personal opinion is that one must love themselves,,,NOT selfishly, or in the same ways we love others, but in knowing onesself, believing in onesself, self respect, attitude, personal habits and morals.

Not only is it a lift for us, but very often is evident to others and spills over onto others.

Without an understanding (if that's even possible) of what LOVE is, how can we offer it to another? An analogy might be, You offer, or state love to another,,, on whatever level. You do so from learned behaviors etc, not just because you have invented the feelings or expressions.
If you truly feel some level of love for another, and express it, assume you do so because of a feeling you have, not only for the other, but in your learning process about that feeling and its effects.

We as a species have the ability,,, rather, the freedom,,, of CHOICE. Certainly love of our fellow man, on the level that means peaceful coexistance is less defined or focused than the love we feel for a mate, but the entire scope of feeling love, came about because of those feelings being witnessed in others, absorbed by you, savored, nurtured, and selected, in finding someone to express the emotion to.
