If you are REALLY that unhappy then set a time limit....

Stay with your current position for at least 6 months to a year or more...save as much money as possible, 1500 dollars a week does not come easily without the advantage of education. Once you have set your time limit, keep a firm date and do not waste your time

Begin looking for another position, have a resume writer put together a resume and sample cover letter for you to use on your job search.

SAVE< SAVE< SAVE....save as much as possible, consider going straight into college part time while working at your new place of employment. Many colleges will offer courses on line. Be sure to choose a local college so that you can have "in-person" instruction if needed.

You may need to supplement your income at the new job with the money you have saved, so be sure to budget yourself.

You sound young ( I don't know )....remember that opportunities are not around every corner, so use your time and money wisely. If you are not careful you will find yourself 35 and still without formal education. Understand, there are exceptions to this rule, some people are able to advance and do well without an education...but this is the EXCEPTION, not the norm.

Be Wise...

Listen I am 45 yr old female with education but not much of a work history due too family problems throughout the last 3 yrs. I am not able to find a decent paying job . If you hate it why don't you find a positive way to like it the work you are doing ? If the money is good and it supports your means of life then keep it. You are correct in saying you will not get a better paying job as you have now . Be positive !

If you should come across another job making the same amount , who's to say once you start working there you will hate it also .

Do you get Insurance at your job ? How long have you been with them ? May I ask your age bracket ? What don't you like about it ?

If you get insurance that's a plus . Most employer's don't like dishing out insurance , so many places lay you off before insurance is given .

Hang in there Richard it's not as bad as what it seems to be .

What else do you plan to do with your time? Where are you going to get money to enjoy the extra time you will have? I would stick it out for a while and save up all the extra money you don't need. Since you have almost no free time you won't be needin spending money, just your basice necessities like food and shelter. Put the rest away, maybe think about investing it, and when you truly can't stand your job any more and you are ready to quit you will at least have some money to hold your head above water for a while. Think about going back to school, even if it meand livn with the folks for a bit. A small amount of misery could pay off big in the end.

Stay. Try and make the best of it. I have an education, and felt the same way after 11 years at a miserable job. Finally I quit. 2 years later I am still not making the same money, and regret leaving. Looking back NOW it was bad, but money is better. Just try to have a better attitude, and leave work at work. It is a good paying job but remember only a job... don't stress about it too much.

Making that amount of money with no education is great. There are many of people who have an education and don't make that kind of money.

Before you jump up and quit, maybe talk to your supervisor about cutting down on some of your hours. If you have a good supervisor and you have an open line of communication with him/her, maybe explain that you may be getting burned out and need to have a little extra time in the afternoons to relax.

I would even think about saving up as much money as you can and if the situation doesn't work out you will have money saved and you can go back to school and get a trade or something to prepare you for another job.

Good luck

What means more to you, money or joy? If you make a lot of money it doesn't mean anything if you're not happy doing it. If you really want to quit your job, find another job first that you know you will like because you don't want to quit a good job and be screwed. Write down the pro's and con's of your job and voice your concerns to your employer. Figure out what is making you so unhappy there, and let them help you figure out a way to eliminate those problems. Most employers want their workers to be happy because happy workers are productive workers. If you are valued at your job, they will help you feel more comfortable there. If they show complete disregard to the situation, then leave. It's not worth it to work for someone who doesn't care about you as a person, and by staying you are only telling them that you want them to treat you like a doormat. I would say, first, talk with your employer, and write a proposal. Taking the initiative to present a new way of doing things that would make the people happier will please the boss, and you may gain more headway. Don't just quit. Try to work on it first. Remember, you get out of it what you put in, so if you're not taking any steps to better the workplace, nothing will change!

I would not leave your job. If you really dislike it, I would look around and see if you can find something else that you would like doing, and decide if the pay cut is worth being happier. I would not leave though until you find another job, that way you do not have a loss of income.
If you find something else you would like to do and do not mind the pay cut, then it would be a good idea to leave because even though money is good, happiness and good health are more important. I left a job where I made a little more money but was not happy and came to my current job where, even though I may make a little less, I am much happier.

you have to ask yourself this. How old are you? you sound young. hang in there for a while and save money then get out and then look for another job but do some research first before acceptting a new postion.. make sure it is something you are going to be happy with. I am 41. I have made OODLES of cash in my time. but I was never happy. I have a wonderful job now it doesnt pay what I was used to but I sleep easier. Your health is more important than any amount of money. Good Luck, John

Those are long hours, and partly explains the nice salary! Can you shorten your hours, and perhaps use this money to finance some education? Otherwise, have you invested any part of your earnings? Do you know if you quit, what would take the place of your job? Do you have anything you would like to try?
Those questions need to be answered, and not necessarily on a whim. Have fun!

Its not always about the money. If you are miserable at your job how can you enjoy the money that you make? If you go home upset and frustrated over work its not worth it.

I gave up being a nurse making $36 an hour to teach because its what I found that I loved to do, I gave up A LOT of money but in the end its worth it.
