You can try lacing them in different styles - there are a lot, but they do work - vary them until you find the style that is comfortable for you. See the article below.
I have wide feet, so find most shoes tight - however, if I re-lace them so that I miss out the second loop up, they don't feel as tight.

Can you not take them back to the shop and ask them to exchange them for one size bigger? If that would be a bit too loose then just wear thicker socks to fill them out. Maybe you have feet with in-between-sizes, which means that the standards sizing is not suitable for you and you need half sizes. If that's the case then you need to find shoes from manufacturers who also make half-sizes, search the web.

its best to wear them around the house for a while but if u need to wear them in quickly go for a run or long walk in them, if there the right size but just a bit tight due to bein new this should work. if not then take them back and get a bigger size

If they are tight around the arch or toe area:
stuff them full to bursting with damp paper towels and wait for them to dry. Repeat as necessary.
If they are tight from front to back:
Buy a bigger size :)

You need shoe trees/stretchers, they are the shoe equivelent of presses for old wooden tennis racquets. you may well be able to find them at the kind of store old people shop at, or a second hand shop, flea market or jumble sale. They are shoe shaped adjustable segments of wood, they can stretch out length ways and width ways. Just ask an old person.
