Ideally, a pregnant woman should gain about 3-4 lbs during the first trimester (that's the first 12 weeks), and then a pound each week during the second trimester. But then it is so hard to follow that guideline - nobody is perfect. Plus sometimes women don't gain much during the first trimester when they're so nauseous all the time. So it varies. What you need to do is to make sure that you gain weight steadily - not too fast, and not too slow. No extreme weight gain or loss, and you and the baby will be just fine.

At 18 weeks, you should be 9-10 lbs more, but a variance of 2-3 lbs is not bad at all. So I say you're doing just fine - don't worry about it. If you're still worried, talk to your doctor and discuss your concerns.

Goodluck!

That's actually about right. You will gain most of your weight near the last trimester. I didn't gain much until the last 4 months. Also, my cousin's gf is 15 weeks and she's only gained 1 pound. Talk to your doctor if you have any worries.

Yep, that sounds normal to me! I have had 4 pregnancies, but only have gone to term with 3. The most is gained in the last trimester. Just listen to your doctor..if he thinks you have gained enough, then dont worry about it.
