The Republican majority currently in place seeks to dismantle the social programs that were put into place after the Great depression and return the US to a nation of unfettered wealth and unregulated business, and unrelieved poverty.
By heaping debt on the nation they seek to stay in power long enough to either remove social safety nets via legislation or put the country in such debt that they must be cut by administrations that follow. Social Security has proven to be "untouchable" because the majority of Americans know it protects the elderly against a crashed economy, in which savings can be wiped out in the blink of an eye. By the time this administration ends, we will have to cut SS to handle the debt.
They also seek to undo the progressive tax rates, which have largely been brought down from a high bracket of 90% in the 1960's to a high bracket to 33% today. Millionaires have much to be grateful for with this government.

Most people don't understand that there should always be some debt in the budget. It helps the economy grow faster. However, the debt is getting to a very high point and the current, like many administrations take almost no responcibility for it. Their spending helps to promote their parties politics. There needs to be some fiscal responsibiliy. I think they should set up and independent fed reserve board to control that similiar to the supreme court nominations.

The answer is simple. They are following orders from those who control them. The world is not run by the political leaders who are constantly put on display. The world is and always has been run by the very rich. The bills our congress debates are
"mind candy". The real decisions are made by people we never hear about. That is why we keep getting laws passed that make no sense. Congress is debating the marraige laws now. Why? It makes it look like they are doing something. No matter what the outcome, nothing real will come about from it. President Bush does not have any great ideas, he is following orders.

No this is substantial to no longer provide into the temptation of crude idiotic call calling. despite if lots of the surprising are doing it. Fascism is amazingly severe certainly, and it could be incorrect to describe the modern American surprising as Fascists. no one is advocating shutting down democracy thoroughly and tearing up all civil rights merely yet. yet yeah. absolutely everyone who calls, say Obama, a socialist is the two completely ignorant to what socialism ability, or they're being willfully deceptive. he's relatively a Reagan neo-liberal with a pair of adlescent social democracy rules. yet I doubt the loopy surprising are relatively involved in accuracy. they only % to throw around what they think of are frightening words.

Problem is:
* Low tax rate (good)
* Constant tax cuts (good)
* Government spending more than it is taking in through taxes (bad)
