Because Today's Society thinks that is okay to shack up and do their own thing.....just like they think open sex relationships are the thing. No one is teaching morals and values to their children. The world has come to accept everything and we as people think it is ok do what they want. This is a sign people...the Bible is fulfilling is itself!!!!!!

I Like Brownsugar's answer...
People are frankly pathetic! Shacking up does postpone marriage and Im not sure how people have that much time to spend shacked up and then if suddenly they don't get married..they have to start all over again probably..or do somethign else i'm findin folks doin these days which is go through a living situation with someone for liek 4 yrs. break up and then get back with someone they once knew and marry them like a couple months later...and i dunno y this happens...but then again u wonder..where does America's Divorce percentage come from??
I mean fine if you wanna find a gude/gal and shack up with them and PRETEND TO PLAY HOUSE with one another, then fine..i mean but what these folks fail to realize and put behind like its not there..is that for all the time u spend shacked up..u are just playing house..and until you make a declaration that you love this dude/gal and that u're getting married and pronouce it to the world..and there's a record of it at city hall..ya'll are NOTHING..and if you can live ur life with nothing...then good for u
to answer ur second question..some people are a bunch of pansies when it comes to marriage these days..

I tried marriage once and will never do that again. I personaly don't know why peoploe want to get married. I think the disadvantages far out weigh the advantages.
.....I will and am living with a woman and glad to have the company. Do not need a piece of paper to tell me how and what to do. I also doubt if I could have ever found anyone I wanted to spend all my life with. As I have aged I have changed and the gals I lived with did not so I moved on to another that I could get along with for a while any way. The woman I am with now has been for over eleven years so I guess I might even make it longer as she has been changing as she gets older as well.
.....No I see no reason for marriage.

There are many reasons why someone might chose to live together instead of marriage. I find myself in a similar situation. I divorced after a 22 year marriage and my boyfriend has been married twice and we don't feel the need for that little piece of paper to tell us that we want to be together and this way if it doesn't work out we can walk away with no strings attached. I am not ditching marriage and feel that it should be entered into with the knowledge that when you say until death do you part that is the way it should be but sometimes in life it doesn't work out that way.

I agree with you, it doe's postpone the I dos. People want what they want NOW. They can't wait. What doe's this teach our children? Then they wonder why the divorce rate in this country is so high. I have been married for nearly 37 years and we waited until marriage before we lived together. It takes work sometimes but it is well worth it. Thank you for bringing up a subject that really irritates me.

because their is no reason to rush and make a big mistake. gettin married is a big deal not just a piece of paper. Not only are you takin on that other person your takin on everything they have, all their troubles, family, stress etc. people would rather make sure that this is what they want than to go through the whole thing of spending money on a weddin to have it end in divorce. I feel it's better to know your sure than to just guess.
