that's an interesting question. usually it's gym class but basically it just means education about sports and activities.

It's one of the most poorly taught subjects in school. Children and adults are becoming less and less active, obsese and unhealthy.

Physical Education, Phys. Ed. or PE is abuot teaching the student about healthy living through regular exercise, active participation, nutrition, human growth and safety. Yes, sports is a component of it, but in most programs it is heaviyl emphasized, which is wrong. PE is about educating the body and how to take care of it.
