It is a cottonwood. They make a terrible mess. We have had it so bad that it looked as if it had snowed. They little furry seed things stick to everything and it can be hard to clean them up.

It sounds like a Cottonwood tree. They can drop so much of the fuzzy white seeds that some areas of the ground looks like it has snow.

Cottonwood trees are found over much of the US, in fact it is the state tree of Kansas. The Tree found in Wisconsin is known as the Eastern Cottonwood.
