Have u ever noticed that when people use the phrase "I have many (minority) friends, they generally follow up that statement with something anti-minority? Why is it that we never seen liberal people using "I have many (minority) friends" as a justification?

What r u trying to accomplish when you say this?
Are u lying so that you can try and pretend that u understand minorities, so taht you can discriminate them?
Are you trying to understand them for a better tolerance of them.

NOTE::: this is only for people who actually use the term in sentences, not for people who have minority friends but don't point it out constantly.

I think people think that just because they have minority friends, that automatically makes them not racist.

My son is bi-racial. I can't tell you how many times people will make a stereotypical statement against blacks and then say "Not Kelly though he's different or he's better or he don't act like that."
It is still offensive but I try to point it out to them and remind them that my son is just another person. He doesn't wake up in the morning and say I'm half black so I think I will.... because of it. Most of the time people don't even acknowledge that he is half white. I see his friends post stupid comments on line about having a black friend named Kelly. People have to just start seeing people as individuals that don't fit under some generalized category. Sorry that I didn't really answer your question. I just wanted to let people know how it feels to be on the other side of the "I have a black friend" situation.

Did you notice that you just did the very thing you are talking against. You mantioned minorities to bash another group. You are guilty as charged.

Just posing as if they are the well wishers of the minorities, while from heart to heart they are against them.

They're trying to show how broad-minded they are.
