Because you are getting older and your body is also growing up.
When the hips start to widen that is a sign your body is getting ready to be able to have babies. This is one of the many changes you have during puberty.

At this age, you can notice many changes. Teenage to adulthood is a transition period for the both the gender. Though u get good advice from the people on net, you mom is the best person to explain u all. The sign u noticed is normal to feminine in connection with ur reproductive system.. nothing worry about it... just keep good diet and exercise regularly... Have nice days ahead...

Don't believe it when people are saying that having sex causes your hips to widen. That is a myth, a silly one. It's just a sign that your body is maturing. They won't widen too much, they should be proportional to the rest of your body.
Biologically wider hips signal to males that your body is mature enough to have babies. However that doesn't mean you are mature enough to have sex, I hope you wait.

hips have to widen to fit a baby in... dont worry i hated it but as you get older you'll love your curvier figure!
