No you can't and it doesn't matter what size the paper is it will never fold more than 7 times.

The rule has been; you can't fold a piece of paper IN HALF more than seven times. In theory, you could fold a piece of paper many, many times more than 7...if not doing so in halves.

Rules are made to be broken, seems a high school girl named Britney worked out a way to fold a sheet in half 12 times and has a booklet available for $6.00 to show us how... lol. If someone buys it I would suggest they invest in a life first.

the physical limitation is 11 times this is achieved by using "perfect" paper with "perfect creases" but it ain't a perfect world 9 times id achievable use tinfoil

and it doesn't matter how large the paper is it decreases in size exponentially

and to the person below me i have a folded peice if tinfoil in front of me folded 9 times i know it aint paper very thin paper will behave the same and also check the record books the record is more than 7

You know, I never tried until you asked this question...however, I did succeed. I only folded from the middle, like you asked. My last fold wasn't as tight as the other folds, but it was still a fold.

Of course you can, it's easy and only takes a minute. I mean, obviously, you can't keep on folding it and folding it without *unfolding* it each time, but if you like, there's nothing to stop you from folding it in half 77 times, or 777 times, or 7777. But it might begin to rip or fall apart at that point.
