I can't walk up to your dad and say that to him, but I can say online- Goths and rockstars are not all gay. Some are of course, but that doesn't mean all are. Although neither are nice goals to reach for. But be respectful to your dad, he's only trying to protect you from being a total washout/dead.

Your dad is being very stereotypical...there are country singers and hippies and Elton John are gay...come on, get over it dad. Just cuz people look different and enjoy a kind of music doesn't mean *everyone* is gonna be gay. What's wrong with being gay anyways? Don't forget to inform him that being gay is not contagious...so even if goths and rockstars *were* all gay (which they are not), by being friends with them or listening to their music will not make you gay. K? ^__~

hey-hi-show your dad this-some do live an alternate lifestyle but most dont-wouldnt want to be the one to tell ted nugent he was gay to his face man has a lot of guns and shoots pretty good-i grew up in the sixties and about anything went so i tried to allow my son total freedom when he was growing up-still was real hard for me as a father when i went through the check out line at a grocery store and the girl ringing up my groceries wanted to know where my son got his nails done-still there is a good side to the goth culture-if you ever have to go to lowes bring your child with you dressed in full goth regalia-once every thirty seconds someone will stop and ask if they can help you only time i ever got service there-keep the peace old hippie

No, rock stars are not all gay. But a good few are, for instance Elton John, Freddy Mercury of Queen was gay, Rob Halford of Judas Priest came out on MTV years ago, Michael Stipe of R.E.M is gay, George Michael, Melissa Ethridge, and many more I am sure I'm missing. As for the goth thing, no it doesn't make them gay, just strangely offbeat. Usually full of angst, depressed, and generally unhappy. Thus the black get ups to show their dissassociation with society.

Well, some rockstars are, and I'm sure more than a few goths are. But not all of them. Surely your dad has been around long enough and known enough people in his lifetime to realize that you can't judge someone on appearances, especially their sexual orientation.
