they actually already fought each other in a dc comics/marvel crossover mag and even though they went back and forth, superman came out victorious because they went off of fan votes. Honestly speaking, with the nature of their battle and given the facts of their personality I have to disagree with everyone.
I originally thought it was a no-brainer and superman would win, but after he tries to burn him with his eye beam and try to freeze him (hulk is virtually indestructable so the eyebeams are out and he can counter the breath freeze with his own thunderclap) he would only make hulk angrier the more they fought which in turn would make him stronger and faster .... indefinitely.
Superman on the other hand actually has a weekness that a smarter (gray) hulk could figure out eventually and though he can't fly any true hulk fan knows he can actually jump to other plants and find the kryptonite in the process.
Final response... There is no way for superman to actually kill hulk which he never would anyway, but Hulk though he comes off as dumb... in battle he learns more and more how to destroy his opponent and could eventually find the way to kill superman.

Other posters raised excellent points. In the comics, there was a very well done issue where they fought.
Superman got belted into orbit. He finally decides that the Hulk it to dangerous and flies at him from orbit. He strikes Hulk and drives him a couple of miles into the earth. By the time that the Hulk climbs out, he's lost his anger and walks away as Banner.
Doomsday was basically a DC version of the Hulk. In this, they gave Doomsday a couple more powers than the Hulk had. Specifically, the bony portions that could grow to protect him and also cut Supes. Superman & Doomsday were fairly evenly matched, with both of them finally knocking each other down. However, Doomsday lacked the one weakness that would totally be the Hulk's downfall. Doomsday didn't revert to a 90 lb weakling when he calmed down.
Superman would totally win against the Hulk because Superman could play a waiting game and take out the Hulk when he reverted back into Banner.

Superman. Although the Hulk has incredible size and strength, he has less power than super man. Superman can fly and hulk can't. Also, Superman would probally have a better stategy.

I guess superman, but if the hulk challenged him to a horse race, superman would fall off of the horse, then the hulk would beat the snot out of him. but the hulk did fly, in an early comic where Rick James (I think that was his name) commanded him, due to a freak accident in a space chuttle.

the hulk cuz he cant die and superman will start to get very week cuz the hulk in involnerable to anything and superman is just a human with some powers
