O.K, now I know you're used to not hearing what you want to hear, so here goes. You are being discriminated against, that's obvious. Forcing those people to hire you means you have to work for people like that. I like the idea of starting your own firm, or possibly changing the job you are applying for. Maybe these companies you worked for have a need for a consultant, and just don't know it yet. Try selling them that idea. But maybe it is just time for a whole new job, starting again if you will (not starting over, as you can bring your psat experience with you.) My brother was a C4 quadriplegic for 7 years, before he decided to go to school. He's doing great in school, but I also worry about his future. Either way, just like your injury, you will take what is handed to you, and figure it out. I KNOW that if you could survive your injury and maximize your independence, you can figure this out, too. Good luck, and thanks for the question. More people need to see the problems faced by wheelchair bound people. Only then can you change their perceptions

If you had been working for 20 years despite your injury I can't understand why your previous work history is not speaking for its self. Maybe you should try calling some of the places (repeatedly) that have turned you down and try getting them to try you out because this is a form of discrimination. I know you would like to stay in a field that you are knowledgeable in, but you could try other types of employment. There are other fields of employment that are willing to hire the handicap, some places actually have a minimum percentage of handicapped employees with their companies. Good Luck If you want to take any action you can call your state handicap discrimanation board for any further action

That is illegal, if you feel you have been discriminated against report it to the labor board
