Ok. Everyone needs to calm down. I have 3 kids already. I don't want to sit there for another 24 hours waiting to dilate. They say sex will speed up the process because the sperm thins the cervix.

I'm surprised you are asking this question. I'm also sure u've never had a baby before. Ma'am, sex is the last thing that you will have in your mind whilst in labor.

I recently heard on the news that a major university found that their was no link between having sex and a speedy delivery of your child. I totally understand wanting to not be in labor for 24 hours. I was in labor for 10 and it was awful, I couldn't imagine 24! However, I think that usually the more kids you have had the faster your labor may go each time....I only have one so I don't know if this is really true. You Dr. can give medication to speed up labor and a cream (I think) to help thin the cervix. I had the medication to speed things up, but I would not suggest it. I think it made the labor worse. I would talk to your Dr. about this one. He/She will be able to help you and address your concerns about a long labor. I don't know if I personally would want to have sex during that time. I did about 2 or three days before I delivered, and I found it to be very unpleasant and painful, but everyone is different.

No I do not think you can have sex while you are in labor. The woman is in no mood to have sex while she is in the process of having a baby. I do not think she will have sex for a while after she has given birth because of all the pain she has gone through. But in a way, I guess you can have sex while giving labor. There are these countries where women are not given high regard and it is like they have to have sex despite any situations that they are in. Most do not want to sexually active while giving birth, but most of them are forced to do this.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're serious and just worded your question this way to get a quick response? In any event...having intercourse while you are having contractions is a disgusting idea (putting it mildly). Why not try exercise? If you can get up (no pun intended) the energy to have sex, surely you can drink castor oil and walk a couple of miles to speed things along??? However, if you are truly "in labor", there is no need to speed things along. Ugh...I have to go...I'm feeling sick to my stomach just thinking about this...

Yes, You definately can!

But believe me you won't want to.

The tension of knowing what is about to happen definatlely kills the mood for both the man and the woman.

But there are those kinky people out there who do crazy stuff so you never know.

It would be hard though, imagine trying to let your man do it to you in the butt whole while at the same time you feel like you got to take a major dump. It just don't work.

Oh, Yea and then there's the PAIN ! !

Honestly if you are in the first stages of labor you can- i have heard that it makes your labor progress faster due to something in sperm however I am not a dr so I couldnt say for sure--- After your water breaks your not going to want to because it can cause infections and if your having sex and your water breaks you might want to mention it to your dr due to the risk of infection, so that they can give you antibiotics-------- Having gone through one birth I can tell you from experience your not going to be thinking about sex once your water breaks and your labor progresses from small contractions to the painful ones.....

Yes you can....as long as your water hasnt broke!!! That is VERY important!! If it has, then no baths, showers are fine, and no sex b/c it can cause an infection to the baby!!! BUt other than that you can have sex up until the water breaks. As long as you have not been told "no sex" by your ob. In fact, sex can make you go into labor sooner.

Uh, I think you mean when you are pregnant, and I believe that you can up until the end of your second trimester...but since you are asking that question, I have a feeling you have no idea what it means to be pregnant nor what a trimester let alone what a second trimester is.
