No chance. Waseem Jaffer is primarily a Test class opener. He is not all that good in the field also. Like Laxman, he does not fit into the scheme of things in ODIs. Multi-skilled players like Sehwag, Sachin and Yuveraj are needed to balance a ODI team. So Sachin Tendulkar when fit will return to the ODI team. In tests though Jaffer will be our first choice opener. If Sachin does not return soon, Shikhar Dhavan or Goutham Gambhir could be tried. Both are fairly good deep fielders. One slot in the middle order for taking is Kaif's. Though he scored 3 half-hundreds in the last 5 ODIs he was actually slowing down the scoring rate. He can be a liability is he doesn't pick up his speed.

Test matches are different from ODIs... Sachin is out of form now. Soon he will strike form.. Jaffer is also a good player. But i dont think Jaffer will play well in ODIs. Never compare Jaffer with the batting maestro Sachin, based on just one match.... Wait till Sachin comes back. Then u will understand my words...
Jaffer can come in ODI team but not by replacing the master blaster Sachin.

sorry but i dont think so. because sachin is a genius. he is injured now but he will definitely make a strong comeback. jaffer is also a very good player but it will be wrong to compare him with tendulkar. we all expect a lot from sachin. we think that sachin should make centuries in every second match, so we forget his small innings which also help india to win or support the score.
one think is for sure that jaffer has fixed his place in test team as an opener. he has closed the gates for gambhir.

I agree with you! Now, Sachin has become the most unpopular and if you ask me, I wouldn't rate him equal to even Gambhir taking into account his present performances! He ought to be out of the team! Neither is he doing the team good, nor is his place significant! Wasim Jaffer must be brought in the ODI squad in place of Sachin! For a player who hasn't played too many matches, he has proved homself wonderfully by hitting a brilliant 212!! SACHIN MUST QUIT!!!

No ways man...Sachin is the king of one dayers. Jaffer is far too slow for ODIs. Sachin is a handy bowler too.

I think yes. I definately agree with you. We have to give chances for new players and they are doing really well. Jaffer proved himself in the test series by his beautiful 200. He should definately be given a chance.

Jaffer should be retained in the Test side. ODI will ruin him.

he has not even conquered well enough to just talk about him for a replacement of Sachin. If he continues to perform well fine this would be a good choice to talk of him being in the team for even Sehwag or Laxman but no one's going to accept this.....................for some time,
